Deciding where to play poker in the UK

As time passes by i’m wondering which live events to play. I think i have mentioned before that I have actually only played 1 main event and finished 5th at a GUKPT summer series event. I’m being more and more drawn back into the UK poker scene and can’t decide what to do and where.

I’d love some recommendations from anyone with idea, so please contact me or comment here.

Blackpool is definitely on the cards for November this. It was called the Northern light poker festival, not sure what it’s called now though, i need to check that!

blackpool pokerAs much as I hate Blackpool,as a place the poker there is very good. I don’t know why I hate it so much but i know i’m not the only one to feel that way. The whole place needs a lick of paint and a rebrand imo as stag and hen do’s just aren’t what people want anymore, or perhaps they are and I’m just too damn old to appreciate it.

The main event there is £1000 + £100 i believe so that i must play. It’s on for 3 days so i’ll have to stay there in a high quality luxury travel lodge which is better than the b&b’s i’ve seen. There are side events too so I will take in a few of those. My plan so far is to go down early if I don’t try to qualify online.

By going early i should pick up some cash from the cash games while the other tournaments are running. One bonus to this is as players get knocked out they join me at the cash tables, already on tilt they become easy picking and with a little patience it always pays off.

A grand is a lot of money to folk out for a game of poker so I would much rather win my way in, I may try it online but don’t really have the time due to business commitments, but if i can find a few hours one evening i am trying to motivate myself to give it a go at the very least.

I’m really looking forward to it to be honest. I’m even getting excited despite it being 5 Months away! It will probably drag in, but if the weather stays like this I’ll just top up my tan and hit Blackpool with a real one rather than looking orange like most people tend to do.

Back to work now, adios!
